GHB

GHB is a substance that also occurs in the human body. It regulates waking / sleeping conditions in the brain and is used in medicine for the treatment of narcolepsy. Depending on the dosage, GHB acts either as an entactogen, muscle relaxant or as a sleep aid. It often occurs as a colorless liquid in small bottles or, more rarely, as a white to yellowish powder. It has a very salty, possibly soapy taste and a slightly adhesive-like odor. In combination with alcohol and other sedatives there is an increased risk of respiratory depression.

Effects
- Low dose: Slightly euphoric, relaxing, calming feeling (similar to the effect of a low to medium dose of alcohol); mood-lifting, anxiolytic, entaktogenic and socially opening; slight dizziness and tingling in the limbs possible. Heart rate and blood pressure are slightly reduced. Sensory impressions are hightened.
- Medium dose: Can be sexually stimulating (used as a cuddle and sex drug), the sense of touch is sensitized and the inhibition threshold is lowered; strong urge to speak (Laberflash) can occur. Enhanced color vision, slight hallucinations and acoustic illusions are possible.
- High dose: Motor skills are significantly impaired. Slowing of the pulse. Strong hallucinations can occur. Positive emotional feelings are still possible. Deep (coma-like) sleep or loss of consciousness can occur.
- Short-term side effects: nausea, vomiting and dizziness are possible. With high doses, headache, confusion, difficulty breathing, cardiac arrhythmia, balance and memory disorders as well as rapid involuntary muscle twitches (myoclonus), cramps and even immobility can occur. If you fall asleep, spontaneous emptying of the bladder and / or bowel is possible due to the strong relaxation of the muscles.
- In addition, the eyelid reflex disappears at high doses, making it difficult to assess whether someone is "only" in deep sleep or is already in a coma. Narcotic doses can cause severe nausea - risk of suffocation! After-effects can be different or not occur at all. Among other things, headaches and drowsiness are reported.
- Long-term side effects: In long-term users, the side effects can increase significantly. Frequent high-dose consumption of GHB / GBL may a. Trigger sleep disturbances, anxiety and tremors and favor or intensify depressive states. With long-term consumption there is a risk of physical and psychological addiction.
- Discontinuation: Sometimes there are life-threatening withdrawal symptoms (delirium): insomnia, sweating, muscle spasms, tremors, inner restlessness and aggressiveness, anxiety and an intensive, changed perception of the environment and oneself; these can last from a few days to 2 weeks. Slow dosing is recommended. If possible, withdraw only under medical supervision!
