Hydromorphone

An opioid that is roughly 5x the potency of Morphine (intravenous). Only comes in immediate-release tablets in the US, and is given mostly as extended-release formulations in other countries. It is frequently used in hospitals for short, but immediate pain relief during procedures requiring the patient to be awake. Also frequently used as a recreational opiate.
